Our congratulations to the six London based old boys for their foresight to invest in a long term Educational Project. JCC’s past 200 years is worthy of celebration in very many ways, solemn and grand. Equally important is the noble cause to strengthen the present and prepare our beloved College for a stable future in the field of Education. To be on par with the best in the island. We have no doubt that the JECT will serve such purpose meaningfully, growing from strength to strength in the years ahead with the financial support of our old boys from all over the world.

We say it with modest pride and solitude based on the Colombo OBA’s nearly 14 years of rich experience, managing the Joint Scholarship Scheme to the benefit of the needy Advance Level students and the University Undergrads from Central. The proposed JECT, as we learn, is designed to assist the intelligent and the needy students of our Alma Mater from the very beginning. A much needed boost to the less-privileged. Our salutations for the praise-worthy Project and the Sincere Six Promoters from London. You set the pace indeed. We are proud of you, fellow Centralites.
Our wishes for the Project to deep-root itself and grow into a giant tree that would shade and shape the lives of many students, in the years to come.

When looking back at our childhood school days, we have nothing but pleasant memories to think of. The opportunities that our school presented and the experiences that we gained have shaped us to become who we are today. We feel humbled at this moment to lead this initiative today in providing a much more improved educational environment to the present day students of our school. When we look at the facilities and the educational environment of other competitive schools in Sri Lanka, we feel that we need to do more to help our talented students to become more academically competitive with any other student in Sri Lanka.

With this moral objective in mind we as a group of fellow past students got together to initiate an unprecedented movement to foster a competitive academic environment and financially sponsor talented students to achieve greater heights. Thus, the JCC Edu Care Trust was born.
The success of any structure in this world lies in the foundation. Thus, no one can argue the important role the school plays in the life of any student who wants to prosper in our society. The building blocks the school lays in the life of students transcends far beyond one can imagine, whether it would be his/her career, behaviour, contribution to society etc. Thus, everyone in society is a direct stakeholder of what the school produces. Therefore, we all as a society have a role in fostering a positive and healthy academic environment in our school that would be compliant with the professional and social demands of the modern day.

As proud old boys of Jaffna Central College, we feel honoured to participate in this movement and we hope it would be the same for all other old boys of our school. As a donor for the JCC Edu Care Trust, you will become a valuable stakeholder in enlightening the future of a student. It would not only fulfil your moral responsibility but also would give you a sense of pride and satisfaction that can never be measured in financial terms. Hence we invite all our brothers to participate in this historic movement.
For the students of Jaffna Central College, today is a day that will go down in history. You will be assured that your talents will not go unnoticed and all the support you need will be given to you in financial terms. The goal of this movement is to make you equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the professional and social demands of the 21st century. So, what we have to say to you is that sky is the limit. From this point onwards you are not alone in trying to make your dream come true. We will be there in every step of the way monitoring and giving you the necessary support to succeed both professionally and socially.

We take this opportunity to thank the principal, teachers of the school, founder members, OBA members of all countries, and all other individuals who helped us in their own way to make this movement what it is today.
Finally, we extend our gratitude to the honourable Minister of Education Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam for taking time off his busy schedule to grace this occasion with his presence.
